Tottenham Hotspur will have the opportunity to bolster their ranks in just a few weeks with the opening of the January transfer window.

Spurs have had an up-and-down season so far, recording some incredible results but also falling to some shock defeats.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou could potentially look to dip into the transfer market in order to bring in some new recruits and strengthen the squad.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey has now spoken about Tottenham’s long-term interest in a “big talent” who has been likened to Italy legend Andrea Pirlo.

Tottenham ‘have always had an eye on’ Nicolo Fagioli

The player in question is Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli and, according to Bailey, he’s a player who Spurs have been monitoring for a while.

“I think Fagioli is one who Tottenham have always had an eye on,” Bailey told The Spurs News.

“Obviously with the Spurs – Juventus connections, they have good relations and if a loan was around, they could look. He’s a big talent!’

According to Bailey, Fagioli has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs with Juventus looking to move him on in January.

Along with Tottenham, the likes of Manchester City, Aston Villa, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are showing an interest in Fagioli.

Meanwhile, the likes of Atalanta, Napoli, Marseille and RB Leipzig are also keen.

Who is Tottenham target Nicolo Fagioli?

Fagioli began his football journey with the likes of Piacenza and Cremonese before joining the Juventus academy, rising through the ranks and breaking into the first team.

The 23-year-old – who GiveMeSport claimed has a value of around £20million – has made 62 appearances for Juve and has also won seven caps for the Azzurri.

However, Fagioli has lost his place at Juventus under Thiago Motta as he prefers a combination of Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram.

Pirlo previously told Gazzetta dello Sport that Fagioli could potentially be his heir, while Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout likened him to Isco.

Kulig also said Fagioli is an ‘offensive all-rounder capable of playing in various positions such as winger, attacking midfielder and support striker’.

He has been described as a ‘creative player with great technique on the ball, mobility, acceleration skills, fast direction shifts, short-dribbling and good short-mid through passing ability’.

Given Tottenham have done business with Juventus before, this transfer lead seems quite promising.

Perhaps Fagioli could become the next Spurs player to make the move from Juve and potentially make a huge name for himself at N17.
