The summer transfer window is here and Tottenham are still waiting to make their first permanent signing for this busy period.

Spurs have been linked with a whole host of options in the market, with the hopes of bolstering Ange Postecoglou’s options in the squad.

The Lilywhites are still on the hunt for silverware, with the Tottenham manager unable to end their long wait for a trophy in his first season.

Postecoglou has stressed the importance of long-term success and the building of a dynasty, something that won’t be fixed with a quick Carabao Cup or FA Cup on the side.

As a result, foundations have to be placed for that vision to pan out, with the first year firmly focused on doing just that.

Now, 12 months on, the focus turns to taking the project to its next stage and progressing it beyond fifth place in the Premier League.

While Timo Werner has returned to Tottenham on loan, there is a wait on the first permanent transfer, though work is underway.

Tottenham transfer stance on Eberechi Eze deal

One key position that Tottenham are looking to strengthen this summer is the wide areas, with Postecoglou still searching for a winger that matches his style of play.

Direct, one-on-one options have suited his fast and attacking style of play over the years, which is a profile of player that is available.

One of those linked with a switch is Crystal Palace and England star Eberechi Eze, who could leave the Eagles this summer.

Reports from BBC Sport earlier this year claimed that Palace would be placing a £60million price tag on any exit for the winger.

With that rumoured interest in mind, Football London reports that Spurs have made Eze a “priority” transfer target for the weeks ahead.

The 25-year-old is currently on international duty with England at Euro 2024, which would likely impact a deal happening early in the window.

Eze scored 11 goals and assisted four last season for Palace, making 27 appearances in the Premier League.

While Tottenham could be Eze’s eventual destination this summer, he does have a link to their North London rivals Arsenal.

The winger came through the Gunners’ academy when he was growing up, but ended up released before making it through all of the age groups.

“It started at Arsenal,” he said in an interview with the Independent in 2020. “I was 13 [when I was released]. That was the worst one.

“I remember crying in my room for a solid week, my mum telling me that it’s going to be OK but not being able to get over it.

“Then I went to Fulham and I was finally starting to enjoy my football again.

“We played Arsenal a few months later but, when I went over to shake the academy manager’s hand, I started welling up. All the feelings came back.”

Since then, Eze’s path has taken him to QPR and then Crystal Palace, but could the next stop be a trip to Tottenham?
