Tottenham Hotspur have identified a player who England manager Lee Carsley loves a target for next summer’s transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad is still in need of clear reinforcements following a mixed start to the season and the North London club will already be looking at potential targets.

This summer, Spurs signed just one senior player in Dominic Solanke, whilst the rest were all teenagers. Archie Gray, Lucas Brevall, Wilson Odobert and Yang Min-hyeok were the quartet of youngsters added to the squad, but have all struggled for regular minutes so far, whilst Yang is out on loan.

The Lilwhites need to start looking at signing more senior players who will make an immediate push for Postecoglou’s line-up.

Tottenham seriously interested in Angel Gomes

Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in bringing Angel Gomes back to the Premier League, according to GiveMeSport.

Spurs are seriously considering a move to sign the midfielder on a free transfer with his contract set to expire with Lille next summer.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle are all also interested in signing the 24-year-old who has been impressing in Ligue 1.

His form for the French side earned him his first call-up to Lee Carsley’s England squad which was also aided by his relationship with the coach.

When speaking about the former Man United player, Carsley said: “Angel’s different to what we’ve got in terms of a player who can play deeper but play like a ten. He’s very skilful, the way he can receive balls, the way he can control games.”

Is Angel Gomes good enough for Tottenham?

On a free transfer, this deal has the potential to be decent, but Gomes doesn’t appear to be a player who would move the needle for Tottenham.

The 24-year-old joined Lille back in 2020 on a free transfer from Manchester United after injuries suppered his time at Old Trafford.

He’s enjoyed some strong spells in Ligue 1, however, he has just eight goals in 121 appearances for Lille. Spurs would probably be fine allowing him to go elsewhere.
