Tottenham plot move for 21-year-old ‘superstar’, already have good relationship with his club

Tottenham Hotspur are already showing an interest in the Udinese right-back Festy Ebosele ahead of the summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s depth in the full-back department were put to the test on the weekend against Wolves with both Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie sidelined through injuries.

And the Lilywhites could now return to Udinese with one of their other young full-backs catching the eye of the north London outfit.

Tottenham interested in Festy Ebosele

Having brought in Udogie from the Serie A club, it is now suggested by HITC Football’s Graeme Bailey that Ebosele is now on the radar at Hotspur Way.

The north London club are believed to be scouring Europe ahead of the summer as they feel their squad options at full-back are not strong enough.

Ebosele is a player who Spurs have taken a keen interest in and are monitoring the progress of the Ireland international in Serie A.

But a move for the 21-year-old could be met by competition from other English clubs with Everton, West Ham, Southampton, Leeds United and Watford all credited with an interest.

Good relationship with Udinese

Although Watford are the sister club of Udinese, it is probably fair to assume Tottenham may have the advantage on the rest with their relationship from the Udogie deal.

Ebosele will likely be well aware of how well Udogie has done since making the move to north London from the Italian outfit.

He has already been tipped to become a ‘superstar‘ by his former manager Wayne Rooney during his time at Derby County.

Spurs did not look to take advantage of Udinese when they made their move for Udogie, the Lilywhites paid a reasonable fee and allowed the Italian club to keep hold of the left-back for a further year.

After inking the deal to join Spurs, Udogie returned to Udinese for a one-year loan before he finally joined up with his new club last summer.

Hopefully for Spurs, this may provide them with an advantage over the other interested clubs when it may come to negotiating a deal for Ebosele.

However, it is apparent the player is viewed as a back-up option to the current Tottenham starters and whether he would be content with that may be a different question.
