Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the departure of Yves Bissouma following four years at the North London club.

The Malian midfielder’s contract is due to expire this summer, and he will be leaving the club as a free agent when it eventually expires.

Bissouma’s career at Spurs has never really taken off, although he did play a crucial role in helping end the club’s 17-year wait to win a trophy in the Europa League triumph.

The 30-year-old has been a huge personality around Hotspur Way and is very popular amongst the playing squad, plus the coaching staff.

Roberto De Zerbi was a huge fan of Yves Bissouma at Tottenham

Roberto De Zerbi was a huge fan of Yves Bissouma; however, Tottenham Hotspur have opted to let him leave as a free agent.

Bissouma rarely featured for the Lilywhites last season, although he did manage 11 Premier League appearances towards the latter half of the campaign.

De Zerbi brought him back into the team for games against Brighton, Wolves and Aston Villa, but now is happy to let him leave.

Speaking to Spurs official back in April, De Zerbi hailed his importance and partnership with Rodrigo Bentancur: “Both are very important for us as personalities, as experience. They know they have a great connection between them.”

The North London club are targeting a big midfield signing this summer, and there is clearly no room for Bissouma to stay.

Joao Palhinha remains an option for Spurs, though it remains unclear whether the Lilywhites will actually take up their option to sign him.

Pape Matar Sarr has also been linked with a move away from the club as they continue to shuffle the pack in the middle of the park.

Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray remain two huge talents in midfield for Spurs and will both be hoping to finally kick on next season.
