Tottenham Hotspur already have one midfielder arriving this summer but may still go into the market for another option at the end of the season.

Lucas Bergvall will be joining Tottenham this summer having already agreed to join the club from Swedish side Djurgarden.

The teenager looks to be a huge talent for the future and will be joining up with Spurs for his first pre-season in English football.

There may be changes in the engine room this summer with question marks surrounding the futures of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso.

Neither player is featuring as much as they would like and could be on the move this summer.

Tottenham seem to be focusing on young talents, so don’t be surprised to see Spurs cash in on Hojbjerg and Lo Celso to bring in younger midfielders.

Tottenham want Cristian Medina

Bergvall could be joined at Tottenham by another promising midfielder with Boca Juniors talent Cristian Medina now wanted.

Boca Noticias report that Tottenham have joined the race for Medina and want a summer deal.

It’s noted that Brighton and Hove Albion as well as West Ham United are also interested in signing Medina this summer.

Brighton often shop in South America, landing the likes of Julio Enciso, Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo and Facundo Buonanotte in recent times.

The Seagulls have strong ties to Boca having loaned Mac Allister there in the past and signed Valentin Barco from them in January.

Brighton will therefore pose a stern challenge for Tottenham with Medina becoming a wanted man.

Boca want to keep hold of Medina for years to come but the lure of a Premier League move may be too good to turn down.

Who is Spurs target Medina?

Medina has come up in the Boca ranks and made his first-team debut for the club back in 2020.

The 21-year-old made headlines in 2022 having broken a record by none other than current Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

Medina reached 67 appearances for Boca in 2022, passing Bentancur for the most appearances by a Boca youth product in the previous decade.

Medina has now blown past Bentancur’s 66 appearances, racking up more than 100 first-team outings for Boca.

Sergio Aguero has been blown away by Medina, calling him ‘spectacular’ just last month whilst praising him for having a ’lot of quality’.

Medina has shown himself as an all-action midfielder in Argentina and, having snapped up Alejo Veliz last summer, Spurs could now return to the Argentinian market for Medina this summer.
