Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly already eyeing moves to address two key areas of their squad ahead of the January transfer window.

That’s according to GiveMeSport, with the outlet claiming that Spurs want to bring in a defender and another forward.

Spurs bolstered Ange Postecoglou’s squad significantly over the summer, despite losing their all-time top goalscorer Harry Kane.

Tottenham’s summer additions have settled in well so far, with the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison all hitting the ground running.

But Spurs may feel they have left Postecoglou slightly short up until the January window after failing to address a lack of depth at centre-back.

And a fresh report claims that Spurs are looking to address this issue in the next transfer window.

Tottenham planning two January signings

GiveMeSport reports that Tottenham have identified the centre-back and forward areas as their priorities for the January window.

It comes after Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga secured late moves away from North London.

Of course, Eric Dier’s future is also up in the air after the defender looked set to move on during the summer.

The 29-year-old has been frozen out by Postecoglou so far this season and is yet to feature under the Aussie.

Indeed, 18-year-old Ashley Phillips was even named among the substitutes over the Englishman at Turf Moor last weekend.

The Spurs News View

It’s encouraging to hear the club has already identified the problem areas ahead of the next window.

The signing of a new centre-back will be key to Postecoglou’s season at Spurs as we currently lack depth in the position.

It would be a surprise to see Tottenham go for yet another forward though, especially after the signing of Brennan Johnson on deadline day.

Postecoglou is well-stocked in terms of attacking options and in our view, the priority should lie at centre-back.
