Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to launch a huge bid to sign Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi over the coming weeks.
That’s according to the Scottish Sun, with the outlet claiming that new Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is keen to link up with his former talisman once again.
Spurs announced Postecoglou as the club’s new head coach on Tuesday after a lengthy search for Antonio Conte’s permanent successor.
The Aussie boss will begin work at Tottenham at the beginning of July after delivering a treble at Celtic this season.
One of the key players in his Celtic side was Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi, who netted a total of 34 goals in all competitions.
The 28-year-old was snapped up by Celtic during Postecoglou’s first transfer window back in 2021 and he’s reportedly planning to do the same at Tottenham.
Tottenham planning huge bid for Kyogo
The Scottish Sun reports that Postecoglou is expected to launch a huge bid to sign Kyogo in the coming weeks. But the talented forward is also attracting interest from a host of clubs across Europe’s top-five leagues.
It’s noted that Postecoglou is likely to move for Kyogo even if Harry Kane stays at the club beyond the summer.
Postecoglou will face the difficult task of re-shaping the Tottenham squad over the summer as he bids to build a side in his image.
Of course, Kane has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs in recent weeks, but it would be a surprise if Daniel Levy allowed the club’s record goalscorer to leave after a difficult campaign.
As for Kyogo, he thrived at Parkhead under Postecoglou and it’s hardly surprising that he’s already being linked with a move to Tottenham.
He could provide much-needed cover for Kane and has proven his effectiveness in Postecoglou’s system.
The former Celtic manager waxed lyrical about Kyogo’s performances in Glasgow, labelling him a ‘brilliant’ striker.
“I think from the moment he’s arrived, he’s been outstanding,” Postecoglou told BBC Sportsound last month. “Every time he plays he looks like he’s gonna score goals. The way he works for his team, he’s just brilliant.
“I never have to gee him up. I never have to get him motivated. He just goes out there, you see the size of him. Most of the time he’s up against guys who are a lot bigger than him a lot more physical. He’s got this really sort of kind nature about him.
“He’s smiling, but don’t underestimate his competitiveness. He wants to win. You know, he wants to win as much as anyone and again, in the big game, he’s delivered.” as quoted by 67 Hail Hail.

Tottenham have struggled to find a suitable back-up option to Kane for many years now and it’s a difficult gig to sell given the England captain’s influence at the club.
While Postecoglou clearly got the best out of Kyogo at Celtic, it would be concerning if Spurs prioritised signing another forward before addressing other areas of the pitch.
Spurs leaked a total of 63 goals in the Premier League this season, so you’d like to think that the backline will be the club’s main priority heading into the summer.
