Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a potential summer move for a midfielder who idolises Luka Modric.
The summer transfer window is going to give Ange Postecoglou an opportunity to bring in some further quality with European football expected for next season.
Champions League will be the goal, but it does look like Spurs will be playing some form of European football.
With Spurs, therefore, needing some further strength in depth, it is believed they have now entered the running for an in-demand forward.
Tottenham in the hunt for Dani Olmo
Spurs have already made the addition of James Maddison last summer as Postecoglou eyed a creative spark in the middle and Brennan Johnson from out wide.
And according to the Daily Mail, Spurs are now eyeing the versatile Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig as an option for the summer.
It is claimed he has a release clause that becomes active over the coming months which will allow a £52m bid prise him away from Germany.
But Spurs will face some stern competition for the Spaniard with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United also credited with interest.

What Dani Olmo said about Luka Modric
If Tottenham are to land a spot in the Champions League, it will potentially give them a significant boost in the race for Olmo.
And they may not have to finish in fourth spot to qualify with West Ham’s recent Europa League boosting England’s coefficient ranking.
The 25-year-old has had another impressive season with Leipzig having returned seven goals and four assists despite sustaining a number of injuries.
His time at Leipzig has certainly provided a healthy return of goals and assists, here is an overview of his output for the Bundesliga club…
- 142 appearances
- 28 goals
- 33 goals
- 11 yellow cards
- 2 DFB Pokals
- 1 German Super Cup

Having played for a number of years in Croatia, the 25-year-old has admitted that he has looked up to Luka Modric as an inspiration.
Speaking to a Spanish outlet, Olmo has previously said: “Modric seems like another level of player to me. How he interprets the game, his control of the ball… he is one of those that I pay attention to now that he plays as a midfielder, in more central positions. Modric is one of the references.”
It is, of course, claimed that Real Madrid hold an interest in Olmo ahead of the summer, so he may potentially view a move to the Bernabeu as following in Modric’s footsteps.
However, he will surely be aware of Modric’s past with Tottenham and the platform which that provided the midfielder.
Although competition will be fierce at Tottenham, joining Real Madrid would ask a lot of Olmo to earn a regular starting spot.
