Tottenham Hotspur are looking at the Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has caught the eye of the Lilywhites with Ange Postecoglou’s side potentially looking for a new striker.

With a number of teams said to be interested in the striker ahead of the summer, it could be difficult for Bologna to keep their man.

Tottenham keen on Joshua Zirkzee

Speaking on the Caught Offside YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the 22-year-old striker is likely to leave in the summer.

He said: “And for Joshua Zirkzee the same, honestly. He is doing fantastic so let’s see what concrete interest will appear. At the moment many clubs are following him but nobody has started a conversation. I think it will be really difficult for Bologna to keep the player.”

It has been a sensational season for the Dutchman in Serie A having returned 10 goals and four assists as Bologna chase a top four finish.

And his style of play even drew comparison to that of a former Arsenal and Chelsea striker on the same show by journalist Ben Jacobs, he said: “He reminds me of Olivier Giroud. I wouldn’t rule out a move from a Premier League club. And both Spurs and Arsenal have looked at the in-form Bologna striker.”

Tottenham’s striker decision

The two transfer windows Tottenham have had since Postecoglou’s arrival have been mightily impressive.

Signings like Micky van de Ven, James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario have helped transform the football on display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, a big decision needs to be made on who will lead the line up top for the years to come.

The summer saw Harry Kane exit the club for Bayern Munich, with Richarlison proving to be the go-to option for Postecoglou.

But The Spurs News have been told the Brazilian is not necessarily there long-term option with Richarlison potentially up for sale in the summer.

Whether Zirkzee could be that man needs to be something Spurs may need to consider.

This is only the striker’s first full term playing in a top five league after making just 19 appearances in Serie A last season.

He is clearly a player who is considered to have an exciting future, but Spurs may require patience if they were to sign him.

His return of 10 in the league is impressive for a youngster, but can Spurs really afford to nurture through a striker who is not likely to score most weekends?
