Tottenham Hotspur have recalled Alfie Devine from his loan at Port Vale.
Tottenham released a club statement via their official club website on Wednesday which stated the following on the academy talent:
‘We can confirm that we have exercised the option to recall Alfie Devine from his loan spell at Port Vale. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder made 26 appearances in all competitions for the League One side during the first half of the season, scoring three goals.’
Alfie Devine was thriving in League One, which has perplexed Spurs fans about why he’s been recalled.

Tottenham fans on Alfie Devine being recalled
Devine has been a regular for Port Vale this season, amassing 26 games for The Valiants.
This is usually exactly what you want for a youngster, which is why fans are confused with Ange Postecoglou‘s decision to bring him back. They took to X to state the following:
‘This is quite surprising. He was smashing it at Port Vale,’ a first writes.
Another adds: ‘Really surprised by this he seemed to be smashing it! Unless it’s for first-team involvement??’
‘Why? swear he was doing good, possibly a team at a better level want him?’ a third questions.
Another adds: ‘Wow. I know he’s been amazing but are we really planning to play him?’
He was doing so well aswell???? unless he’s due some first-team minutes this makes no sense,’ another adds, perplexed.
A final adds: ‘Wonder if this means he’s going to be playing. He’s been smashing it for Port Vale.’
Why have Tottenham recalled Alfie Devine?
Time will tell, but our best guess is that a club higher up in the English Football League must have a move lined up.
Devine is not ready for first-team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yet but is better than League One.
A second-half-of-the-season stint in the Championship would be a great move for him. Let’s see what materialises.
