Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in the Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba as an option for the next transfer window.

The summer market is still months away, but it seems Ange Postecoglou and those at Hotspur Way are already putting in the ground work.

Spurs have already raided the Bundesliga for the exciting defensive talent of Micky van de Ven and it seems as if they’re keen to replicate that success.

Tottenham interested in Edmond Tapsoba

Speaking to Caught Offside, journalist Christian Falk has claimed Spurs are one of the Premier League clubs showing a keen interest in Tapsoba.

The Burkina Faso international is believed to be valued at around €40m (£34m) by the Bundesliga leaders.

But interest in the 25-year-old is high with the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid all credited with an interest.

Replicating Van de Ven success

The arrival of Van de Ven last summer has been a huge success at Tottenham and it is apparent he is a player who is impressing across the league.

Having been hailed for his pace, the Dutchman has recently been recorded as the Premier League’s quickest ever player.

Spurs brought the 22-year-old over from Wolfsburg where he had only been playing for one full season before making the move to England.

So it just goes to show the Tottenham scouts were bang on when it came to judging Van de Ven which does provide optimism going forward.

Tapsoba is clearly a player who is rated highly across Europe given some of the other clubs said to be interested in him.

Earlier this month, Tapsoba played a full 90 minutes against Bayern Munich where Harry Kane had an extremely quiet evening.

It would be interesting to see whether he would be willing to join Spurs and fight for a spot in the starting XI.

Radu Dragusin is having to do just that as the Romanian continues to fight to break the partnership of Van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

But it is not a battle many defenders may choose to take on.
