Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a centre-back whose own brother says he’s just like Cristian Romero.
Bolstering the backline has been something Ange Postecoglou has put a big emphasis on since arriving last summer.
And that is something which Daniel Levy has provided the Australian at Tottenham over their two transfer windows together.
With the likes of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez having moved on, Spurs have added to their defence with the signings of Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin.
The Dutch centre-back has proven an extraordinary signing with some even comparing him to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
However, it doesn’t look like Spurs are quite done there as they are now being linked with another centre-back.
And they could potentially bring in a 22-year-old who has already been likened to Cristian Romero by his own brother.

Tottenham could bring in the next Cristian Romero this summer
One player who has been in sensational form this season is Tottenham’s World Cup-winning centre-back.
The 25-year-old has carried around the tag of being an ill-disciplined defender who finds his name taken by the referee far too often.
However, having been made vice-captain this season, Romero has reigned in his temperament and has only been awarded five yellows in his 27 appearances.
And now it seems as if the Lilywhites could be looking to bring in a younger version of the Argentine to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
According to the latest edition of Sport Bild [page 21], Spurs are courting the Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Piero Hincapie.
It is believed the 22-year-old is valued by the soon-to-be German champions at around €40m (£34m) and they would consider selling him.
The Ecuadorian is a player who has made 14 starts for Xabi Alonso’s side in the Bundesliga as they look set to be crowned champions this weekend.
What Piero Hincapie’s brother said about him and Cristian Romero
Spurs are building quite the centre-back collection at Hotspur Way with Romero, Van de Ven and Dragusin all providing Postecoglou with some solid options.
However, the expectation of European football ahead of next season will need Spurs to have strong depth for the new term.
And it seems the 22-year-old’s brother feels he could be the perfect alternative to Romero with Hincapie having spoken to Scouted Football about his brother’s comparison.
“My brother tells me I’m a lot like him [Romero], I like him a lot,” he said.
| Per game | Piero Hincapie | Cristian Romero |
| Passing accuracy | 91.9% | 91.9% |
| Tackles | 1.75 | 2.17 |
| Interceptions | 0.95 | 1.42 |
| Blocks | 0.8 | 1.38 |
| Aerial duels won | 59.6% | 68% |

Considering Van de Ven and Romero have the starting spots nailed down, perhaps Hincapie could be a solid option from the bench.
