Tottenham already planning summer move to sign ‘powerful’ £25.6m defender

The January transfer window has only just shut, but it seems as if those at Tottenham Hotspur already have their sights locked on the summer market.

Spurs were able to bring in three new faces over the course of last month in what was generally a quiet window across the Premier League.

And despite signing a new centre-back in Radu Dragusin, it seems as if Spurs are keen to sign yet another with fresh links emerging to another Serie A defender.

Riccardo Calafiori on Tottenham’s radar

According to a report from Tutto Bologna, the Lilywhites are one of a number of sides who are already looking at the 21-year-old ahead of the summer.

A lot of interest appears to be coming out of Italy for his services with the likes of Napoli, Juventus and Milan credited with interest by the report.

But Spurs are also believed to be in the frame having had such success in raiding the Italian top flight in recent years under the watch of Fabio Paratici.

Talk of Calafiori’s potential exit in the summer has reportedly seen a €30m (£25.6m) valuation put on his head by Bologna.

Raiding Serie A

Tottenham’s interest in scouting players from Italy’s top flight is there for all to see with the big additions of Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Cristian Romero, to name a few.

And it seems Fabio Paratici’s influence is still playing a big part in how Spurs scout their future targets with the young centre-half now another believed to be on their radar.

Calafiori has already played for a number of clubs at his young age, and has even got his hands on major silverware in winning the Europa Conference League with Roma and Jose Mourinho.

But it seems he has found a place where he can play regular first team football at Bologna and he is shining as they push for a spot in Europe.

The ‘powerful‘ 21-year-old has become a regular in the starting XI having already started 17 games this term in the Italian top flight.

Competition for a place in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI will be fierce – just ask Dragusin – but Romero’s move to N17 could be an encouraging sign for Calafiori.
