Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Kalvin Phillips.
That’s according to FootballTransfers, who have reported that Ange Postecoglou sees Phillips as a positive addition to bolster his midfield.
The 27-year-old joined Manchester City last summer after a brilliant couple of seasons in the Premier League with Leeds United, while he was also named as England Men’s Player of the Year.
City coughed up £42 million to bring Phillips to the Etihad Stadium, however he has struggled to force his way into the first team. While the midfielder was sidelined for almost three months shortly after joining the club, he remained out favour upon his return and was even regarded as overweight by Pep Guardiola following the World Cup.

Phillips was heavily linked with a move away from City in the summer but wanted to fight for his place, however he has only managed three appearances off the bench this season and it is thought he could now be available on loan in January.
The likes of Everton and Newcastle United are said to be eager to sign Phillips, while Liverpool were also linked with the England international in the summer. Tottenham are now also thought to be in the race for his signature.
While Spurs have enjoyed an incredible start to the campaign, they arguably don’t have the squad depth to keep it up until May. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg still looks to be on his way out of the club, while Oliver Skipp is their only other direct replacement if there was any injuries or suspensions.
Kalvin Phillips – yes or no?
Kalvin Phillips could be a solid addition to Tottenham’s midfield, though it certainly wouldn’t be the place for him to rediscover his form.

The former Leeds United man needs regular football and at a club that doesn’t already have a lot of eyes and pressure on it. Phillips would have to do a lot to knock Yves Bissouma or Papa Matar Sarr out of the line-up and its not as if Spurs have European football to cause the need to rotate either.
The player that left Leeds United last year would have been a great signing for Tottenham, but they don’t need to bring in a midfielder at his lowest and they certainly don’t have time to wait around for him to improve. Especially when he is raking in more cash than all but a few players under Postecoglou.
