Roberto De Zerbi is desperate to keep Pedro Porro at Tottenham Hotspur, according to Fabbrizio Romano.

The Spanish defender is now a key part of De Zerbi’s plans for next season, and replacing him would be very tricky.

Manchester City have shown an interest in the defender; however, they are set to face a serious battle to sign the Spurs star.

Porro was on City’s books between 2019 and 2020, but the Premier League club ended up selling him to Sporting CP.

Ever since he joined Tottenham, the Spaniard has transformed into one of Europe’s top right-backs due to his incredible attacking ability.

Defensively, there are still questions to be answered, but interest from City and Real Madrid proves just how highly rated he is around Europe.

👀Who should be the FIRST Tottenham player sold this summer?🤔

Porro’s ball-playing ability means that De Zerbi is eager to keep him for next season and build his defence around him.

The Italian manager has shown how keen he is for his defenders to be great with the ball at their feet by signing Marcos Senesi and targeting Jan Paul van Hecke next.

Statistically, Senesi and Van Hecke were two of the best passing defenders in the Premier League last term, adding real technical ability to Spurs’ squad.

Porro’s technical ability is better than most defenders in Europe; therefore, it is clear to see why De Zerbi will not allow him to be sold.
