Heung-min Son’s long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur is in doubt right now with the winger entering the final year of his deal in North London.

Spurs have the option to extend Son’s contract by one additional year which they are expected to take up in the next few weeks. That has not stopped clubs from showing strong interest in signing the winger with a major European club even targeting a move in January.

Earlier this month, The Spurs News reported that Tottenham would not be offering Son a new contract leaving the player frustrated. Son is keen to sign long-term at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, however, the Lilywhites are planning for life without him after his current deal expires.

The South Korean’s frustrations could cause complications in his stay beyond this season and one club in particular are ready to pounce.

Galatasaray plotting Januray move for Heung-min Son

Galatasaray are ready to move for Heung-min Son in January as they look to make another top-level signing, according to Fanatik. Having already lost Wilfried Zaha and Hakim Ziyech expected to leave in the winter window, the Turkish giants are looking to sign a new winger.

There is one big obstacle in the way though, which is Son’s one-year contract extension option with Spurs. Ange Postecoglou is keen for the North London club to take up this option and he is working to convince Sonny to stay for at least one more campaign.

Galatasaray are closely monitoring the situation and having been given the blessing of their President Dursun Özbek to move for Son, the club’s management are plotting to meet with the player. But for now, Tottenham hold the power over the 32-year-old’s immediate future.

Are Tottenham well-equipped for life without Heung-min Son?

Tottenham are looking to move on from Son in the near future given his age, his injury record and the list of talents they have coming through. Postecoglou now has a plethora of exciting young attackers coming through the ranks at the club.

Wilson Odobert and Yang-min Hyuk were added over the summer, meanwhile, Mikey Moore and Luca Williams-Barnett are two of the academy’s brightest prospects. Losing Son will no doubt be a big blow for Tottenham, although they appear well-equipped for life without him.
