Jose Mourinho has outlined one of his top targets for Roma in the coming months, and that’s none other than 29-year-old Spurs ace Eric Dier.
This comes from a report from Calciomercato, which states the Portuguese manager is keen to be reunited with the defender as he searches for a competent centre half.
Dier is believed to be his ‘favourite name’, which boils down to a few reasons.
Will the Englishman take the plunge and join with his former boss in the Serie A?

Mourinho wants Eric Dier at Roma
The report states that Roma have already started working to find a low-cost solution to their defensive problems, with Mourinho’s favourite name being that of Dier.
A big reason behind this is that his contract with Tottenham expires at the end of the season, which will mean a cheap deal – alongside the fact he has the necessary experience to lead the department.
However, Dier is also attracting the attention of his former side, Sporting Lisbon. The report also states they’re willing to shell out a few million to have Dier in advance of June.
Would Dier be a good fit at Roma?
We think so, as long as he gets back to full fitness. The England defender is still yet to play a single minute under Ange Postecoglou due to his injury woes.
Nevertheless, struggling English centre-halfs have gone to Italy and proved it’s possible to rejuvenate their career. Chris Smalling and Fikayo Tomori are prime examples.
Dier, as mentioned previously, has a year left on his contract. It’ll be interesting to see what happens to him.
