Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided his understanding on a possible return to Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane.
The Lilywhites have now been without their all-time record goalscorer for the best part of a season now.
After his move to Bayern Munich in the summer, Harry Kane’s search for a trophy is still ongoing with Bayern having endured a tricky campaign.
It has still been a sensational individual season for Kane who has netted 37 goals and provided 12 assists in 35 games.
But there remains some uncertainty as to whether he could possibly make a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium one day.
Do Tottenham have a buy-back clause for Harry Kane?
The 30-year-old made the move to the Allianz Arena for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £100m.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are yet to find their direct replacement for the England captain with both Heung-min Son and Richarlison having operated through the middle so far.
However, Romano has been speaking to Chris Cowlin about a potential clause Daniel Levy may have demanded when selling Kane.
He said: “I think in regard to a buy-back clause, what I’m hearing is it’s kind of more of a gentleman’s agreement between clubs. So if they decide to sell Harry Kane in the future, Tottenham will be made aware of their decision. So this is the kind of discussion that took place between Bayern and Tottenham.”
A gentleman’s agreement which is something Spurs fans – and Kane – will be all too familiar with following previous transfer sagas.

Will Harry Kane be fit to play Arsenal in the Champions League?
Something else Tottenham fans will also be familiar with is Kane suffering ankle injuries.
Yes, it has happened again and it is the first time Bayern fans will have experienced Kane rolling an ankle.
The 30-year-old picked up the ankle issue just before the international break, but he still joined up with the Three Lions.
After not featuring against Brazil, Kane returned to Munich prior to the game against Belgium on Tuesday night.
But it looks like Kane will make a quick return to action having already been spotted in training with the Bundesliga giants.
A huge clash is coming up for Bayern in the Champions League when they face Arsenal in the quarter finals.
Kane has a stunning record against the Gunners having become the highest goalscorer in the North London Derby.
But this will not be the only time Kane will return to north London over the coming months, it has now been confirmed he and Eric Dier will be playing a pre-season friendly in N17.
