Tottenham Hotspur are completely relaxed over the future of one of their star players ahead of the summer.

The upcoming transfer window could see Ange Postecoglou allow a number of players to depart in search of more regular action.

But it is apparent the Australian is working to create a core group of players who he feels can take his side forward in the long-term.

The likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie have already been rewarded with new deals to see their contractual stays through until 2030.

However, there are still a number of players who have not got certain futures at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with just a year left on their deal.

One of those is the Tottenham captain Heung-min Son who has now been at the club for almost nine years.

It has been claimed the club have entered talks with the South Korean over extending his stay in north London.

But it seems as if the club are not concerned about going into the summer transfer window without a deal inked by the 31-year-old.

Heung-min Son contract news

The Spurs News has been speaking to transfer insider Graeme Bailey of HITC Football who has said there were some key things the club needed to know before entering contract talks.

The £22m Son has shown a lot of loyalty to the Lilywhites and continues to impress despite turning 32 in a matter of years.

Although there has been some reported interest coming from Saudi Arabia in the last year, Bailey has claimed Spurs are expecting a new deal to be sealed by the start of the new campaign.

He said: “Son’s new deal, I expect that to be done by the start of the season – that’s not really a worry.

“It’s getting done now, talks are ongoing, there’s no danger there. I think what it was and there wasn’t a danger that Son and Ange wouldn’t get on, but obviously that had to be checked on.

“They’ve got on like house on fire I think and that was always the thought that they would. But you have to test the water. And that’s transpired so there’s no problems there.”

What Heung-min Son said about Bobby Smith’s Spurs goal record

Son’s record at Spurs in continuing to grow as he has now provided a further 14 goals this season in the Premier League.

Those goals have taken Son’s overall tally at Spurs up to 159 goals across all competitions and equal with Cliff Jones.

However, he has admitted in a recent interview that he is not paying too much attention to the records and is just wanting Spurs to improve.

He said: “It’s a huge honour being a part of this conversation, you know. But 50 goals… I don’t know, do you think I’m 25? I wish I was 25, but look, I try my best, but for me it is not as important as everyone is saying.

“For me, the more important thing is the team getting more successful than my individual stuff.”

Whether he’s eyeing the records or not, it looks like he could be hanging around for another few years.
