Tottenham Hotspur could yet move to sign another centre-back after bringing in Radu Dragusin from Genoa.

Ange Postecoglou has finally got his man in central defence after an eventful transfer saga involving Radu Dragusin

The now former Genoa man opted for a move to Tottenham over Bayern Munich, despite the Bundesliga champions making a late attempt to hijack the deal.

Eric Dier has also sealed a surprise move to Bayern where he will link up with former Spurs teammate Harry Kane.

Spurs were widely expected to bring in at least one central defender this month and Daniel Levy has delivered that for Postecoglou.

But Tottenham remain open to the possibility of bringing in another option at centre-back, with Everton’s Ben Godfrey of interest.

The Spurs News spoke exclusively to HITC Football’s Graeme Bailey, who shared a list of defensive targets Tottenham may yet move for.

Tottenham could still move for Godfrey after Dragusin signing

After snapping up Timo Werner on a six-month loan deal and bringing in that much-needed addition at centre-back, Spurs could still move for another defensive option in Godfrey.

“The defence is an interesting one because obviously Dier is going and they’ve brought in Dragusin,” Bailey said. “It still wouldn’t surprise me if we saw another centre-half come in.

“We know the players they like, Lloyd Kelly, Ben Godfrey, Tosin [Adarabioyo] – that sort of player who can also play at full-back.

“Kelly won’t be an easy one to get this January so I think Spurs are happy with where they are but if a deal comes around, like if Godfrey becomes available at the right price, they may pull the trigger and do it.”

Godfrey has struggled for minutes under Sean Dyche this season, having made just three appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old has already been linked with a move to Tottenham and seems likely to leave Merseyside over the coming months.

The Toffees snapped up the Englishman from Norwich City back in October 2020 for a fee worth up to £25 million

He was ever-present in his debut campaign at Goodison Park, racking up 31 league appearances. But Godfrey has seen his game time slowly reduced and is out of favour under Dyche.

Postecoglou seems well-stocked in central defence after the signing of Dragusin, with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero also set to return to action this weekend.

But with full-back Ben Davies set for a spell on the sidelines with injury, it could be a smart move from Tottenham to snap up that fourth centre-back should the opportunity arise.
