Tottenham Hotspur are going to need reinforcements in the January transfer window.

After a blissful start to the season, Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff were hit seriously hard at the beginning of November with crucial injuries.

They lost the likes of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven – who had proved internal to their nightly impressive opening to the campaign.

In van de Ven, the latter means that Spurs are desperate for a centre-half. The option they bring in may be very close to home.

Tottenham go for Trevor Chalobah

According to a report from Team Talk, Tottenham Hotspur are said to raid Premier League rivals and London neighbours Chelsea for their 24-year-old – Trevor Chalobah.

The report states that Chelsea are looking, once again, to bring in some new players to strengthen their squad heading into the second half of the season, which means some names must also go in the process.

One player who is ‘set to go’ is Chalobah, with interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham in a January deal.

Nottingham Forest had interest in the summer and thought they had secured a deal but were rejected by the 24-year-old at the last minute – but could he be on his way to Hotspur Way?

How would Trevor Chalobah fit in at Tottenham Hotspur?

Ange Postecoglou, like a lot of modern-day managers, likes to play with a left-footed and right-footed centre-half.

Chalobah is a rare defender who is left-footed, which is certainly one of the reasons why the Aussie manager would like to acquire his signature.

With van de Ven in the injury room, this spot is vacant – so Chalobah would slot right in. He would then upon the Dutchman’s return provide some much-needed competition and depth in the first-team squad.

Will we see Chalobah make the move from Stamford Bridge to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer?
