Alasdair Gold has revealed Ange Postecoglou has not been left overly impressed with what he has seen from one 23-year-old at Tottenham Hotspur.
There have been a lot of success stories from Ange Postecoglou’s first 12 months in the job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, there have also been a number of players who have simply not made the cut for the Australian.
Certain players who have not impressed Postecoglou have been sent out on loan already this season, however, there are some who remain at Hotspur Way.
What Ange Postecoglou thinks of Oliver Skipp
One player who remains at the club, but is not getting the minutes on the pitch that he would have hoped for is Oliver Skipp.
The Spurs academy product was tipped for big things by Jose Mourinho who even suggested he could become a “future Tottenham captain” at Spurs.
But that is not turning out to be the case with the 23-year-old’s minutes extremely limited under Postecoglou.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the journalist has claimed Postecoglou just doesn’t feel Skipp is fitting into his system.
He said: “It’s more the fact that Skippy is a number six. That’s what he is. That’s his best role. And I think Postecoglou just doesn’t see him as one of his number sixes which is why he gets crowbarred into the number eight role and it just doesn’t work for him.”

Could Oliver Skipp leave in the summer?
Spurs currently have a strong list of midfielders at the club following the arrival of James Maddison in the summer.
The England international may not be a direct rival of Skipp, however, Spurs also have the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Skipp has made 17 appearances (four starts) in the Premier League this season which have only provided him with 571 minutes of action.
And with that in mind, it has to be questioned how Skipp is going to develop.
Gold has already claimed the north London side could be forced to keep Skipp this summer with the homegrown quota potentially becoming an issue.
He said: “I wonder whether homegrown numbers are going to stuff Skippy next season. In terms of Spurs might have to keep him around because they’ve got so few kind of club-trained, homegrown players.
“But I think Skippy needs game time next season, to go somewhere and play as a number six, not as a makeshift number eight.”
Spurs are already being linked with a number of midfielder ahead of the summer including Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.
With this in mind, perhaps Spurs may need to find a way to get Skipp a move in the summer as he could soon find himself even further down the ladder.
