Tottenham Hotspur have now been linked with a sensational summer swoop for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
The Lilywhites will be hoping they can go into the summer market with Champions League football on offer for their prospective targets.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have enjoyed an encouraging first campaign under the Australian manager.
But it seems as if the north London side could be going into the summer transfer window looking to sign a new striker as the search to replace Harry Kane continues.
And it appears their search for a new number nine could see Spurs look at some of the options already playing in the Premier League.
Tottenham eyeing Newcastle’s Alexander Isak
According to reports, the Lilywhites are one of the sides, along with Arsenal, who are eyeing the Sweden international as a potential option this summer.
He is not a player who would come cheap with a £100m valuation reported with the Toon having broken their transfer record to sign the £63m forward in 2022.
Manager Eddie Howe has already stated the 24-year-old is a player who Newcastle are not looking to sell this summer.
However, the Toon are said to have their hands tied by FFP rules which may force them into selling one of their big assets in the coming months.
Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked away with a summer transfer, but Spurs could look to add to their growing Swedish group with Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall.

Would Isak be an upgrade on Richarlison?
After what was a dreadful first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Richarlison has shown some huge signs of improvement this term.
The Brazilian has returned 10 goals in the Premier League and nine of those came on a run of 10 games.
But his last goal now came back at the very start of February with the Brazilian having struggled with another injury issue.
The Spurs News has been told the club would consider any reasonable offers to land for Richarlison this summer.
However, Isak is a player who has already netted 14 goals in the Premier League alone this season and hold the best minutes per goal return of a goal every 107 minutes.
Playing in his second season in England, here is how the two strikers compare over the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
- Shot accuracy: Richarlison 39.7% vs Isak 50%
- Minutes per goal: Richarlison 137 mins vs Isak 107 mins
- Pass accuracy: Richarlison 67.4% vs Isak 77.9%
- Penalties scored: Richarlison 0 vs Isak 4
- Shot creating actions per 90: Richarlison 1.98 vs Isak 2.41
- Take on success: Richarlison 27.8% vs Isak 55.3%

With a dramatically better ability to take defenders on, the Swede could offer a more direct threat to the opposition whilst also proving more clinical in front of goal than Richarlison.
Alexander Isak’s injury record
Spurs are currently being left with a bit of an issue when it comes to Richarlison’s reliability.
The Brazilian has struggled massively this season with injuries and has already undergone surgery on a groin issue earlier in the term.
He is now in the process of returning to the starting XI having missed a number of weeks due to a knee problem.
But Isak is not a player who has had a free run without injuries since joining the Magpies.
In fact, he arrived in the summer of 2022 and only played three league games before picking up an injury which kept him out for the remainder of the year.
This season alone, Isak has suffered from two groin issues which have kept him out for a total of 54 days where he missed six league games and a Champions League clash.
Perhaps the optimistic way of looking at his injury record is the Swedish striker doesn’t take any time in returning to find his form again in front of goal.

What Alan Shearer said about Alexander Isak
When it comes to scoring goals for Newcastle, there is only one man who comes to mind and that is Alan Shearer.
It is fair to say the Premier League’s record goalscorer is loving what he has seen from the 24-year-old since he moved to St. James’ Park.
Writing for The Athletic, Shearer said: ‘I love Isak, not just because of who he plays for or the position he plays in, or his excellent record of 23 goals in 36 starts in all competitions, but because of how he does it.
‘As a kid — he’s still only 24 — he was inevitably compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, another Swedish legend, but the comparison they make within Newcastle’s coaching staff is to Thierry Henry. You can see it in that blistering pace, the languid grace, that gorgeous, fluid movement.’
Tottenham’s other striker targets
The Lilywhites have also been linked with a potential move for Ivan Toney this summer.
He is a striker who could cost significantly less than Isak at – a still hefty price – £60m, but he also already has some extra years on the Swede at 28-years-old.
Another young striker who has also been linked with Spurs is Santiago Gimenez, however, the Mexican would land in north London with no Premier League experience.
But whether Spurs would spend in the region of £100m on the back of Postecoglou’s recent comments.
He said: “To a certain extent but I don’t think we are in a position to spent £100m on a player, if that is what you are suggesting.”
Some big decisions lie ahead for Spurs and it will be interesting to see whether a big money addition is deemed essential ahead of next season’s – all but certain – European adventure.
