Thomas Frank was sacked by Tottenham earlier this year following a drab run of form, and now the club are paying for one decision he made prior to his exit.
Frank had taken Tottenham dangerously close to the relegation zone, and the club had no choice but to part company with the head coach, who was appointed in the summer.
🤔Was Brennan Johnson misused by Thomas Frank at Tottenham?
Igor Tudor has come in, and nothing has improved really when it comes to the results that the team have been getting of late.
Scoring goals on a consistent basis has been a real issue for Tottenham, and that makes one of Frank’s transfer decisions look all the more bizarre right now.

Selling Brennan Johnson looks foolish from Tottenham perspective
Johnson was an acquired taste when it came to Tottenham fans, and in the eyes of some, he could never do enough to convince them that he was good enough.
However, it’s fair to say that he’d be ideal for Tottenham in this current situation, given that he’s not averse to a relegation battle.
In 2022/23, before he signed for Tottenham, Johnson was integral to the fortunes of Forest, who managed to survive relegation in their maiden campaign back in the Premier League.
Johnson earned his big-money move to Tottenham and the versatile forward proved his worth to Tottenham tenfold during his time in North London.
The forward was often available at a time when most Tottenham players couldn’t seem to stay fit, and furthermore, he loved the big occasions, as proved when he scored the winning goal in the Europa League final.
Not replacing Johnson was sackable offence for Frank
Selling Johnson was understandable given that Frank didn’t ever really fancy him, but not waiting until a replacement was sourced proved pretty foolish.
Tottenham didn’t think like a big club when it came to offloading Johnson and ultimately, they could live to regret the decision if they end up relegated to the Championship.
Johnson was far from perfect at Tottenham, but Frank committed a serious oversight by allowing him to leave and then not signing any attacking talent in January to replace him.
Had Johnson remained at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the club might not have found itself in this mess and ultimately might already be safe from relegation.
