The picture that proves Thomas Frank isn’t the same manager he was when Tottenham hired him

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank is a man under considerable pressure, and the walls are closing in.

Frank’s appointment in the summer was met with glee among the vast majority of Spurs fans, with the supporters united in the consensus that he was ready to step up after some stellar work with Brentford.

Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth has left serious question marks over Frank, with Tottenham languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table.

Alarm bells are definitely ringing with Frank when it comes to his tenure at Tottenham and last night perhaps offered up the clearest sign yet that he’s not the man Spurs thought they’d hired in the first place.

Thomas Frank picture proves alarming point

One of the big USPs of Frank was his attention to detail, and right now it seems crystal clear that he’s let his guard down a little bit.

When it comes to the football that Tottenham are playing, Frank has a lot of work to do. It’s passive, often pretty pragmatic and creativity hasn’t been evident since he came to the club.

Attention to detail and a meticulous, data-driven approach were the factors that made Frank sought-after when he was in position at Brentford, but after last night, patience is wearing thin with the Spurs fans.

Prior to the game against Bournemouth, Frank was spotted enjoying a pre-match coffee, which in isolation is pretty normal in the modern game.

However, Frank, clearly feeling the heat at Tottenham, was drinking from a cup blissfully unaware that printed upon the side of it was an Arsenal logo!

Clearly, this went down about as well as can be expected, given the hatred between Arsenal and Tottenham and naturally, it’s a really poor look for the under-pressure head coach.

Frank has two crunch games to buy him time at Tottenham

It might be disappointing for Spurs supporters to hear, but Frank is likely to get a little bit more time to turn things around in North London.

Spurs face Aston Villa in the FA Cup at the weekend and then host hapless West Ham in the Premier League, with a huge opportunity to get some points on the board.

Fill in the blank: Tottenham should ___________ Thomas Frank after losing to Bournemouth…

Would you sack or back the Dane?

After that, Spurs face Burnley before a tough-looking game at home to Manchester City to follow.

The games coming up look to be perfect for Frank, and if he can put six points on the board in the next two matches, it should at least earn him a stay of execution.

This faux pas is a shocking look for Frank, however, and he now has it all to do to prove that the writing isn’t already on the wall for him.
