It is really no secret that Tottenham Hotspur have been stuck with some seriously bad injuries this season.

The likes of James Maddison, Cristian Romero and so many more of the first-team squad have all been in the medical tent at some point, which ultimately led to a rough patch in November for Ange Postecoglou.

Nevertheless, it looks like many are nearing a return, along with the Aussie manager bringing in some new recruits in January. The starting XI is looking healthy again.

Arguably the biggest loss so far for Spurs has to have been Micky van de Ven. However, the Dutchman appears to now be back at full fitness and is raring to get back into things at Hotspur Way.

Micky van de Ven on Tottenham Hotspur return

The Dutch defender was on the bench for Tottenham’s FA Cup clash against Burnley, and is now in contention to start against Manchester United.

“I’m really happy to be back,” said Micky to Tottenham’s club media.

“It’s always a good feeling to be back with the squad and be on the bench. Next week a big game is coming so hopefully I’ll get some minutes over there.

“I’m feeling fit, I have no pain anymore, so I think I’m ready. It’s long, it was like 10 weeks I’ve been out, it’s frustrating when you have to watch from the sidelines.

“It’s a really good time for the players to come back, it’s an important second half of the season ahead so hopefully everybody will stay fit, and we’ll see what will happen.”

Micky van de Ven will feel like a new signing again in 2024

There was a direct correlation between the injury of the ‘brilliant‘ Van de Ven and the hiccup in Tottenham Hotspur‘s season.

Now a lot of this was also down to Maddison’s absence, but the biggest change is the sudden amount of goals Tottenham seemed to be leaking.

In November and December alone, Spurs shipped 20 goals. The unorthodox centre-half partnerships were in full flow here – and it showed.

The £100k-a-week superstar coming back is going to change the squad dynamic once again. The pacey Dutchman will give the backline an element of composure which should resonate with the rest of the side.

Tottenham are lucky to have him back.
