Roberto De Zerbi looks set to become the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur after being offered a five-year contract by the North London club.
Tottenham agreed to part ways with Igor Tudor on Sunday afternoon and have moved quickly to secure his replacement.
🤔 Can Roberto De Zerbi keep Spurs in the Premier League with this line up?
Spurs had been assessing short-term options, like Harry Redknapp and Sean Dyche, but instead looked to have captured one of their main targets.
Tottenham were dreaming of appointing De Zerbi, and following lengthy talks, the Italian is now open to moving to North London.
Ahead of his potential appointment, The Spurs News takes a look at how the Lilywhites could line up under the former Brighton boss.
Guglielmo Vicario
Guglielmo Vicario looks like the most likely candidate to be Roberto De Zerbi’s number one goalkeeper at Tottenham.
Although the goalkeeper needs to be solid at playing out from the back. But as we have seen, the Italian shot-stopper has shown weakness in this area of his game.
Antonin Kinsky could be a more suitable option; however, his confidence looks to be smashed following his 17 minutes of misery at Atletico Madrid.
Micky van de Ven
At Brighton, De Zerbi used Joel Veltman at full-back, and the Dutch defender would often then move inside to help form a back-three.
Has Micky van de Ven just tarnished his Tottenham reputation?
Red card vs Crystal Palace…
Micky van de Ven could now do something similar under the former Marseille coach, and perhaps he could be better utilised in more advanced positions too.
Kevin Danso and Cristian Romero
Kevin Danso and Cristian Romero are likely to be the two options who start in the centre-back roles under the Italian head coach.
Danso has looked very solid this season when called upon; meanwhile, De Zerbi will need to help get Romero back onside.
Pedro Porro
Pedro Porro has not had a great season so far, but under De Zerbi, he could be given the licence to get forward and attack, much like Pervis Estupinan at Brighton.
Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray
Archie Gray has been Tottenham’s best player so far this season and looks likely to start in the number six role under the new manager.
Pascal Gross started in a double pivot under De Zerbi at Brighton, and Bergvall could play a similar role as a deep-lying playmaker.
Joao Palhinha could also be an option to start in the number six role, but De Zerbi’s system needs two midfielders who are comfortable in possession.
Xavi Simons
De Zerbi needs to get the best out of Xavi Simons, and Spurs are perhaps the system that could finally unlock the 22-year-old.
As mentioned, the Italian needs players with great technical quality on the ball; therefore, making Simons a key player for his system.
Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus is due back just after the international break, and the winger could help to save Spurs from relegation.
👀 Could Mohammed Kudus’ return help keep Tottenham in the Premier League?
The £55 million attacker has been missing since January with a thigh injury, but his return to action is getting closer.
Tottenham are very short of wingers right now, meaning that having Kudus back in the squad could be massive for them.
Mathys Tel
Mathys Tel has looked much improved over recent weeks, and De Zerbi must build on this when he arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Richarlison
Richarlison is a warrior up front for Tottenham, and De Zerbi needs to utilise this for the rest of the season if he is appointed.
