Tottenham Hotspur look set for a busy end to the summer transfer window as they bid to trim Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Spurs are lining up deals for the likes of Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

But Tottenham will have to get a few players out the door before moving on their top targets, with many facing uncertain futures ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.

One area of the squad which could be completely overhauled is the centre-back position and in our view, it could lead to Alfie Dorrington being integrated into the first-team set-up.

Indeed, the likes of Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier have all been heavily linked with moves away from the club.

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccelshare reports that Augsburg are in talks with Spurs over the signing of Tanganga, while The Guardian claims Tottenham are also trying to force Eric Dier out the door.

Davinson Sanchez’s agent is in London in an attempt to push through a move to Monaco for his client, according to Gianluca Di Marzio

And if all three defenders head out the door before tomorrow’s deadline, Alfie Dorrington could benefit from the departures.

Dorrington could get big promotion

Dorrington has impressed for Tottenham’s youth sides and played a key role in the Under-17s winning the Premier League Cup last time out.

The 18-year-old boasts brilliant qualities on the ball and seems well-suited to Postecoglou’s demands from his centre-backs.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, but whether or not they firm up that interest remains to be seen.

And if Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga all depart, that would leave Postecoglou alarmingly short at centre-back.

Of course, Spurs did bring in Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers earlier in the window and he could also be used as a back-up option this season.

But if Tottenham fail to bring in another experienced option at centre-back, Dorrington deserves a chance to be part of the first-team squad.

The youngster has shined in the academy and while he may not be ready to feature regularly for the first team just yet, he’s clearly got huge potential.
