This weekend could see one of Tottenham’s biggest signings of all time make his first appearance for the club.

Xavi Simons was unveiled in front of Spurs fans before their last game against Bournemouth, however he was not available for selection at the time.

He then quickly jetted off to go and represent his national team, meaning Thomas Frank is yet to get a serious look at his new big-money addition.

With the next game coming in the form of a key London derby against West Ham, the Spurs boss is no doubt hopeful that Simons will be up to speed with his new teammates in time to feature.

Netherlands’ fixtures were finished by the end of Sunday, meaning that there was nearly a full week of recovery for the attacking midfielder to be at his best for the big game.

It looks as if Simons has enjoyed the early days of being a Spurs player, with him posting on Twitter that he was a ‘happy boy’.

There had been some speculation that Simons did not see Spurs as his priority during the summer transfer window. It had been reported he was very keen on a move to Chelsea instead.

However, since joining he has made it clear he is happy with his decision, and will now be keen on making his domestic and European debut in the coming days.

Simons set for Spurs debut

With the importance that the West Ham game holds to Spurs fans, there is little chance that there will be heavy rotation ahead of the return of Champions League football.

The Spurs News have predicted that Simons will start against the Hammers, helping form an impressive attacking lineup that will also include former player Mohammed Kudus after his summer move across the capital.

The former RB Leipzig man contributed 18 goals and 18 assists across the last two seasons in the Bundesliga, and his creativity is something that Frank will be looking to get the most out of at his new club.
