Tottenham Hotspur’s opponents on Saturday, Wolves, will be without one of their star players in Matheus Cunha for the clash in north London.

The Brazilian has been one of Gary O’Neil’s real bright sparks over the course of the 2023/24 term after joining from Atletico Madrid.

However, his season is expected to be over after an injury picked up last weekend in their defeat to Brentford.

Matheus Cunha injury update

According to Sky Sports News, the Brazilian forward is set to potentially miss the remainder of the campaign after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The issue was picked up during Wolves’ 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford which saw Cunha withdrawn after just 20 minutes and will definitely see him missing for the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The forward underwent a number of tests and scans earlier in the week to determine what has now been described by Sky Sports as a ‘major blow’ for Wolves.

Who is Matheus Cunha

Having struggled to make much of an impression during his time in La Liga with Atletico Madrid, Cunha has been able to rediscover his form shown at Hertha Berlin with Wolves.

The 24-year-old has been in sensational form this season under O’Neil having returned nine goals and six assists in the Premier League alone.

He caused Spurs headaches in their previous meeting at Molineux back in November having provided the assist for Wolves’ late equaliser.

His form this season has seen high praise directed his way from his captain Max Kilman who has hailed him ‘phenomenal‘.

Although we will take no pleasure in seeing a player out injured, this is undoubtedly a big boost for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs going into the weekend.

Despite being in the bottom half of the table, Wolves have some real threats and Cunha was perhaps one of the biggest.
