Cristian Romero made his 100th appearance for Tottenham Hotspur in the club’s 4-0 over Everton and marked it with a goal.

The Argentine is dreaming of a big season with the North London club as he looks to add to his extensive trophy collection.

His goal against Everton helped give Spurs’ season lift-off as Ange Postecoglou’s side emphatically bounced back from the disappointment of drawing with Leicester.

Heung-min Son also netted a brace whilst Yves Bissouma scored his first goal for the club to comfortably see off the Toffees.

Despite being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Leicester, Romero will be hoping that Spurs can now kick on after getting their first win of the season.

Cristian Romero tells his Tottenham teammates he wants to win a trophy

Romero has been drilling into his Tottenham teammates that this is the campaign to end the club’s wait for a major trophy.

The 25-year-old has won almost everything on the international stage, from the World Cup to the Copa America to the Finalissima.

Now, he wants to win trophies at club level and is expecting a strong season with Spurs and told Telemundo: “Obviously my desire is to win a trophy at club level and every day I try to convey that message to my [Tottenham] teammates.

“I think it’s going to be a nice season. We have many competitions to play and I hope that our ambition is clear.”

Can Tottenham end their trophy drought this campaign?

Tottenham fans will love the desire of their vice-captain in trying to gear up his teammates towards winning silverware this term.

The supporters will be hoping that in their second year under Postecoglou, they can finally have something to celebrate at the end of the season.

It goes without saying that winning the Premier League title will be a step too far for the North London club this year.

However, the Europa League could present them with a tremendous chance of lifting a prestigious trophy. On August 30, Spurs will learn which clubs they will face in the new league format of the competition.
