Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou was spotted doing something slightly unusual against West Ham.

After a late win against Luton Town on the weekend, Spurs were held to a point by their London rivals on Tuesday night.

Brennan Johnson provided the visitors with the lead early on in the game which got Spurs off to the perfect start.

But Ange Postecoglou‘s side were unable to capitalise on their bright start which saw the Australian make some questionable substitutions to freshen things up in the second half.

Tottenham’s attack largely unimpressed against a resolute West Ham backline as Postecoglou was dealt with another hurdle in their race for the top four.

But it is a quick turnaround for Spurs who go again on Sunday evening when they host Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a rearranged fixture.

Spurs could find themselves trailing Aston Villa by five points if they beat Brentford on Saturday, but they could equally find themselves with a huge boost if Thomas Frank’s side are able to take something from the game.

Postecoglou acted out of character after what Johnson did vs West Ham

Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that he spotted Postecoglou celebrating after Johnson’s goal.

Although that may not seem unusual, he is a manager who has admitted he is not one to get overly excited on the touchline.

Johnson has been in fine form of late having provided Tottenham with a seriously impressive return of nine goal contributions in his last 13 league games.

The Welshman has struck up a solid partnership with Timo Werner and he commented after the game on how the pair’s relationship continues to grow after the German provided him with the assist.

“Postecoglou it. You could tell Postecoglou was like, ‘yeah that’s one we worked on the training pitch’. He put his hand in the air. He doesn’t really celebrate many goals like that. Maybe the odd late one,” Gold said after the game at the London Stadium.

“But he actually did that like to do an early one was quite unlike him. Normally he’s ultra calm on the touchline. But he knew because it was perfectly crafted training ground move.”

Postecoglou’s challenge for Johnson over the remainder of the season

After a fairly slow start to life in north London, Johnson is finally starting to show why Spurs parted with £47.5m to bring him in from the City Ground.

And following the game against Luton on the weekend where Johnson transformed the game, Postecoglou revealed his target for the Welshman.

“I thought Brennan was excellent today. We felt at half-time bring him one with him and Timo really wide we could stretch him. I thought both wingers were outstanding in the second half.

“It was great for Brennan. He’s made quite a few impacts now off the bench. The challenge for him is to maintain that consistency.”

With his former side coming to town on Sunday, it will be interesting to see whether the 22-year-old can keep his fine run of form going.
