Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison is expected to return to full training next week.
Ange Postecoglou hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to injuries in his debut season at Tottenham.
The Aussie boss lost both James Maddison and Micky van de Ven through injury back in November.
Spurs have also been hit with suspensions for key players such as Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Yves Bissouma at various points. Despite this, Postecoglou has Spurs sitting fifth in the table – just six points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Rodrigo Bentancur has returned to the starting XI ahead of schedule after making a surprise start against Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve.
Van de Ven also returned to the squad in the 1-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup third round last Friday.
And a comeback for Maddison could be just around the corner, with Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe sharing an update on the midfielder’s fitness.

Maddison should return to full training at Tottenham next week
O Keefe took to X on Wednesday morning and claimed that Cristian Romero is also hoping to start against Manchester United this weekend.
The defender has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury he picked up in the 2-1 win over Everton.
He was then quizzed on Maddison’s fitness and stated that the Englishman should return to full training next week.
Maddison picked up an ankle injury in the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea back in November and has been ruled out ever since.
The 26-year-old has made an exceptional start to life in north London following his summer switch from Leicester City. He’d racked up nine goal involvements in 11 Premier League appearances.
Both Giovani Lo Celso and Dejan Kulusevski have covered for the former Leicester man in his absence.
The duo have performed fairly well in that creative role in midfield, with Lo Celso registering four goal involvements.
But having Maddison back will be a huge boost for Tottenham as they prepare for an exciting second half of the campaign.

Postecoglou is short of options in midfield at the moment as Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are currently at AFCON 2024.
The Aussie’s squad could be back to near full strength next month though, with Maddison closing in on a return.
