Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison is reportedly targeting a return to action against Manchester City next week.
The Tottenham star has been ruled out since early November after picking up an ankle injury in the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea.
James Maddison was enjoying an exceptional start to life in north London following his £40 million switch from Leicester City over the summer.

The Englishman had netted three times and provided six assists in 11 Premier League starts for Spurs.
Tottenham have coped fairly well in his absence, with Ange Postecoglou turning to Giovani Lo Celso and Dejan Kulusevski to fill that creative void in the middle of the park.
But The Telegraph claims that Maddison is finally closing in on a return and is hoping to be fit for next week’s FA Cup clash against Manchester City.
Maddison targeting return for Man City clash
The outlet reports that both Maddison and Manor Solomon are hoping to be fit for next Friday’s fourth-round clash against City.
It’s noted that Maddison is aiming to start working with the first team from Monday once Spurs return to training following the winter break.
It will be a welcome boost for Postecoglou to have Maddison back in time for a big game against City.
The 27-year-old had taken no time to settle in at Spurs and quickly established himself as a key part of the Aussie’s side.

Of course, Spurs are currently without a host of key players due to international commitments.
Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are currently at AFCON 2024 while Heung-Min Son is captaining South Korea at the Asian Cup.
But if the ‘unbelievable‘ Maddison returns next week, things are just starting to look up for Spurs.
By next month, Postecoglou should have the majority of his key players back in action once again after a difficult couple of months.
