Tottenham Hotspur are now fully up and running in the Premier League as they followed up their 1-1 draw at Leicester with a 4-0 hammering of Everton.
Spurs had a point to prove after spurning so many chances in the East Midlands, and they certainly made amends against the hapless Toffees.
Yves Bissouma, back in the XI after his one-match suspension, opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a powerful strike from just outside the box via the underside of the bar.
Son Heung-min then added a second in the 25th minute, making the most of Jordan Pickford’s error to take the ball off him and slot into the empty net.
Everton started to get a foothold in the second half, but Spurs then got their third via a 71st-minute corner as Cristian Romero headed home on his 100th club appearance.
Just a few minutes later, Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven embarked on a marauding run and teed up Son, who finished low from a tight angle for his second of the game.
All in all, it was a masterful performance by Spurs, who very quickly banished the negativity from the Leicester result.
Tottenham’s impressive display meant three of their players making Troy Deeney’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.

Romero, Van de Ven and Son all made the cut in Deeney’s latest selection on BBC Sport.
“Romero got the goal from the corner but he was also a force,” wrote the former Watford striker. “He dealt with Everton’s aerial threat every time.”
Deeney then said of Van de Ven: “He got an assist. Great play and dealt with everything Everton threw at Tottenham, and then that surging run showed his quality.”
Finally, the pundit said of Son: “Best player on the pitch by a mile. He started through the middle and moved out to the left, got a couple of goals.
“He was a constant threat and looks to be enjoying the challenge of being that main man and replacing all the goals from Harry Kane.”
Spurs show what they’re capable of
Romero and Van de Ven are certainly a marked improvement on some of the more recent Tottenham centre-back partnerships and arguably the best since Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
As for Son, he has already assured his place in the Spurs hall of fame and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. And to think he cost just £22million.
Most importantly, Tottenham showed everyone what they’re capable of when everything clicks.
Perhaps the Leicester draw can be attributed to rustiness, but now it’s time to get – and stay – into gear.
