Troy Deeney has now suggested opposing teams will try exploit Tottenham Hotspur’s backline without Micky van de Ven’s pace.
It was almost the perfect Sunday for Spurs, but injury to Micky van de Ven has many holding their breath over the diagnosis.
Another hamstring concern for the Dutchman will likely see him miss the game on the weekend againdt Fulham.

Radu Dragusin’s opportunity
Although Ange Postecoglou will be gutted to see his 22-year-old defender sidelined through injury, it does allow the January signing of Radu Dragusin an opportunity.
The Romanian replaced Van de Ven shortly after half time and had little issues at the back against a powerful Aston Villa attack.
But, speaking on Sky Sports, Deeney has now suggested clubs will try to take advantage of Spurs not having Van de Ven at the back.
Without the Dutchman’s pace, Deeney said: “I still feel the centre half going down for Tottenham changes a lot of that with the pace. He’s got unbelievable pace and he allows Spurs to have that high line to go and get after it.
“I think now it looks like his hamstring’s gone. I think I tend to agree with [Paul Merson] Merse a lot of the teams will be going, ‘right they’re going to come after us. We’re gonna play, but we can get in behind there.’ And when these boys start running away, you’re not going to catch them.”

Micky van de Ven injury news
No official news has emerged regarding Van de Ven’s diagnosis, however, reports have provided an expected return date.
Thankfully, it is suggested, the injury is not as bad as first feared and the centre-back is only expected to miss Saturday’s game against Fulham.
Regardless of whether Van de Ven could be out for a week or a month, there should be no real rush to bring him back as quickly as possible.
It is apparent Van de Ven may have a weakness when it comes to his hamstrings.
Potentially, it could be down to his staggering pace which has seen him clocked as the Premier League’s fastest ever player.
But Dragusin is not exactly slow. Although he may be no Van de Ven, Postecoglou will be confident the Dutchman’s absence will not hinder Spurs too much.
Spurs will come up against a Fulham side who beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 in their last home game.
However, three points has to be the objective with the possibility of going into the international break inside the top four.
