Tottenham Hotspur are not looking to appoint Italian legend Alessandro Nesta as part of Roberto De Zerbi’s staff at this stage.
Nesta had been linked with a move to Tottenham following the arrival of De Zerbi earlier this week, but he does not look like he will be joining the North London club.
🔮 How many points will Roberto De Zerbi take from his first five matches at Spurs?
Tottenham really pushed to bring in De Zerbi and have got their man, with work now ongoing over bringing in his backroom staff.
Spurs supporters were very excited by the prospect of an ambitious move to also bring in Nesta; however, that now seems unlikely at this stage.
Alessandro Nesta will not be joining Tottenham
Alessandro Nesta will not be joining Tottenham Hotspur as part of Roberto De Zerbi’s coaching staff, according to SunSport.
The 2006 World Cup winner has been out of work for over one year now following his sacking as manager at AC Monza.
Spurs were linked with a move for the former Italian international, but it turns out that he will not be joining his fellow countryman.
It would have been great to see the legendary defender arrive at Spurs, given how poor defensively the team have been this season.
Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero working alongside a former defender like Nesta would have been a very exciting prospect.
Tottenham have 11 days until De Zerbi’s first match in charge against Sunderland, so plans to bring in his backroom staff will need to hurry up.
👀 Which Tottenham player will benefit the most from Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment?
Perhaps Sandro Raniere could be part of his staff, having previously played for Tottenham and also worked under De Zerbi at Benevento in 2017/18.
In 2023, Sandro claimed De Zerbi is the best manager he has ever worked under, which bodes well for his former club.
Tottenham should look to bring in a former player and someone who really understands the club, as that is something they have really lost over recent years.
Sandro is still adored by the Spurs faithful and seems like the ideal link between the fans and the coaching staff.
