Tottenham fixtures come thick and fast after the international break, with their race against Manchester United and Aston Villa heating up.
Tottenham‘s hopes of a top four finish this season took a slight knock as they fell to defeat against Fulham. Spurs, off the back of their win over rivals Aston Villa, were unable to back that up with another good performance.
The stalemate wasn’t broken until just before half time, where Rodrigo Muniz found the back of the net. Sasa Lukic doubled that lead just after the break, with Muniz securing all three points and a brace just moments later.
It leaves the race for top four back out of Ange Postecoglou‘s hands for now. The race for Champions League qualification could open up to fifth place, though that still remains to be seen, so fourth will be the aim for now.
So with that said, here’s a look at the next five Tottenham fixtures compared to Aston Villa and Manchester United in the race for the top four.
Tottenham fixtures
Luton Town (H) – March 30
An international break may have come at an ideal time for Tottenham to regroup and push again in the top four race. When they return, Spurs host Luton Town in another huge game at both ends of the table.
The Hatters are still fighting valiantly against relegation and have caused plenty of problems for teams this season.

West Ham (A) – April 2
A tough trip to West Ham follows, with a London derby that could provide plenty of drama. The Hammers are firmly in the race for a European place themselves, despite some inconsistency in performances and results.
They have plenty of quality in their ranks that could cause a few problems, if Tottenham aren’t wary.

Nottingham Forest (H) – April 8
Nuno Espirito Santo makes his return to Tottenham following his short spell as manager at the club. He takes his Nottingham Forest side to north London in search of three vital points towards safety, with relegation threat lingering over their shoulders.

Newcastle (A) – April 13
A tough away trip to Newcastle follows in mid-April, with hopes of taking a step closer towards a top four finish. The Magpies have struggled for form this season, having suffered a mixture of injury troubles and teams denying them chances.
There’s plenty of quality in the team though, which Tottenham will have to be aware of to avoid a poor result.

Manchester City (H) – April 20
Tottenham could have a huge say in the Premier League title race by the end of the season. In a run of games that still includes playing Liverpool and rivals Arsenal, they kickstart it with facing off against Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola has a poor record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but will be keen on overturning that this time around.

Average position of league opposition: 11th.
Tottenham have a real mixed bag of opponents awaiting them, including two relegation battlers, two chasing Europe and one eyeing a title. Each of them will possess different challenges to face, with questions over how well Spurs may be able to adapt to them as and when they face them.

Aston Villa’s coming run of fixtures includes some very tough ties that could have a major impact on their season. Facing title challengers in Arsenal and Manchester City will prove a test, while a local derby with Wolves will also add an extra challenge.

Manchester United will need to close the gap on Tottenham and Aston Villa if they want to earn a top four spot. That starts with a tricky run of fixtures, with Liverpool capable of causing plenty of problems.
The rest of their matches are against teams that have been inconsistent themselves and could either play extremely well or struggle against United.
Our verdict
Consistency will be key for whichever team lands a place in the top four and guarantees Champions League qualification. Tottenham’s run looks slightly more favourable than Aston Villa’s, though that could all change in a heartbeat, while Manchester United have a lot of work to do to muscle themselves back in.
