Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic picked as one of Europe’s best players this season alongside Harry Kane

Luka Vuskovic has been named in WhoScored’s Team of the Season so far as the Tottenham Hotspur loanee continues to impress at Hamburg.

Vuskovic has been enjoying a great loan at HSV and has become one of the best young talents in Europe during his time in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham want to keep Vuskovic next season; however, they are likely to face strong competition to keep him, given the interest from other clubs.

The teenager’s performances have just received recognition, and he is now seen as one of the best defenders on the continent this season.

Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic named in European Team of the Season

Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic has been named in WhoScored’s European Team of the Season following his impressive performances for Hamburg.

The 18-year-old has an average rating of 7.26 in the Bundesliga, and is joined by the likes of Lamine Yamal, Harry Kane and Declan Rice.

Earlier this month, Vuskovic’s performance against Kane was one of the matches which really catapulted him into the forefront of German football.

The defender scored in a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich and was named Man of the Match for his display against Vincent Kompany’s team.

The goal means he has now netted four times this season, including a scorpion kick, which was voted Bundesliga Goal of the Year for 2025.

After the game, Lothar Matthaus sang Vuskovic’s praises by claiming that the Croatian international was better than him at his age.

Vuskovic is open to staying at HSV for another season to play alongside his brother, Mario, who is currently banned from football.

Meanwhile, Bayern are also keen on Vuskovic; however, his current contract with the North London club runs until 2030, making a departure unlikely.

Luka Vuskovic picks up a one-match suspension

Hamburg will be without Vuskovic for their next Bundesliga game after the defender picked up a one-match suspension.

The defender was shown a fifth booking of the season during HSV’s 3-2 win over Union Berlin over the weekend, and is now out of their match against Mainz on Friday.

Vuskovic has played a lot of football already this season, so actually a small rest will do the teenager a lot of good.
