Tottenham Hotspur allowed a two-goal lead to slip against Brighton as they were defeated 3-2 on the south coast.
Spurs’ defence went into total disarray against the Seagulls in the second half as soon as Yankuba Minteh found the back of the net just after the restart. Tottenham lacked a leader in their back line with captain Cristian Romero shying away from his responsibilities as he got caught balling-watching for Brighton’s winner.
Ange Postecoglou’s team is in desperate need of a leader who will take responsibility and calm things down when they start to face a bit of adversity in matches. The Lilywhites’ implosion against Brighton was inexcusable and the players’ attitude was a big reason why they lost.

Luka Vuskovic’s bold claim about his performance for Westerlo
Luka Vuskovic stunned Tottenham fans as the young central defender netted two goals in KVC Westerlo’s 2-2 draw with Beerschot. But it was his comments after the game which also show his impressive mentality and exactly what Spurs are missing.
Vuskovic has looked superb in the Belgian Pro League and now has five goal involvements in 10 league appearances this season.
The 17-year-old has made a seamless transition from the Polish top flight to the Belgian top division and has played a key role in helping Westerlo climb into sixth place.
In his last outing, he produced a sensational performance as he netted a brace to help salvage a 2-2 draw, however, the teenager was still not happy with his and the team’s performance.
Speaking after the 2-2 draw, Vuskovic said: “I can’t be satisfied, we only won one point. We were good, but we need to work more on defence and be more focused.
“I’m happy that I scored twice, but it’s a shame I couldn’t score more, as I definitely had 2 good chances.”
Luka Vuskovic’s remarkable stats for Westerlo
Vuskovic’s stats for Westerlo this campaign are truly remarkable and show what an incredible aerial presence he could bring to N17.
| Stat | Total |
| Apperances | 10 |
| Goals | 4 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Aerial duels won per 90 | 3.1 |
| Aerial duels won percentage | 83% |
| Clearances per 90 | 6.5 |
The defender agreed to sign for Tottenham in a deal worth around £12 million from Hajduk Split but will not officially join the club until the summer of 2025.
The North London club will be hoping he can be the answer to their lack of a leader when he arrives in N17 next summer.
