Jose Mourinho has previously warned his former club Tottenham Hotspur that Galatasaray have a player who he would have loved to sign if he had £70M to spend.

Tottenham travel to Turkey on Thursday to take on Galatasaray in the Europa League as they look to maintain their perfect start to the competition.

The Turkish giants are currently top of the Super Lig and are in the top eight of the Europa group stages with seven points. Okan Buruk’s team have defeated PAOK and IF Elfsborg but were held to a draw against Latvian side FK RFS.

Now, they take on Spurs and they will be hoping their new talisman will fire them to three points against Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Jose Mourinho is a big Victor Osimhen fan

Mourinho has been singing the praises of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen who he believes is the joint-best African player with Mohamed Salah.

Osimhen made the shock move from Napoli to Galatasaray despite being linked with clubs like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. The 25-year-old is on loan in Turkey until the end of the season.

Speaking about Fenerbahce’s rivals Galatasaray signing the Nigerian, Mourinho told HT Spor: “He is a player that if I was in a club with the potential to pay 70 to 75 million, I would buy. He’s a fantastic player.

“Of course, he comes in different circumstances but in the end, the circumstances don’t matter. What matters is Galatasaray got an absolutely fantastic player.

Mourinho has however admitted that whilst he has a great relationship with Osimhen, he is not a big fan of some of his on-field antics, stating: “I don’t have problems with Victor. In fact, we have a very good relationship.

“But every time I play against him I speak with him because I don’t like the way he behaves, he dives too much. The last time we played, Roma against Napoli, we had this conversation.

“I told him, ‘Look, you are one of the two best African players – it’s you and [Mohamed] Salah. In the past Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, George Weah, you cannot behave like this’.”

How is Victor Osimhen getting on at Galatasaray?

Osimhen has been quick to stamp his authority in Turkey with Galatasaray making a strong start in both the league and Europe.

The striker has four goals and four assists in his first seven matches for the Turkish club and is quickly becoming a hero at Rams Park.

There is no doubt that on September 7, Postecoglou’s team will need to be on red alert with the forward around and he could be a real handful for Spurs’ back-line.

The 59-year-old is expected to ring the changes for the match, with Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray forming the defence.
