Tottenham are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper as Antonin Kinsky nears the exit at the club.

Reports have claimed that the Czech stopper is heading to West Ham to play regular football, and that will leave Tottenham in need of an understudy for Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian has been a very useful goalkeeper since joining the football club, but he is prone to errors between the posts.

Now, it would appear that Tottenham are ready to turn their attentions to a Premier League goalkeeper to compete with Vicario for a place.

Tottenham want to sign Wolves stopper Sam Johnstone

It’s been claimed by Alan Nixon via his Patreon that the Wolves goalkeeper is now on the shortlist of potential stoppers Tottenham are ready to move for this month.

Johnstone had ousted Jose Sa out of the team earlier this season, but now he’s back to acting as understudy, with a chance to move to Tottenham likely to be one he won’t turn down.

The 33-year-old has a wealth of experience between the posts in the Premier League and has played for West Brom, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace during his career.

Johnstone will be allowed to leave Wolves this month, and with Wolves facing the real prospect of relegation, he could be extremely keen to move to North London.

Tottenham must aim higher than Johnstone

The veteran stopper might well be considered a better option than Kinsky to act as a backup to Vicario, but at the same time, it’s not exactly an exciting signing.

Who Scored showcases that Johnstone actually averages more saves per game than Vicario, although given Wolves’ perilous position in the league that doesn’t come as a massive surprise.

Johnstone will be fine as a backup, but if Vicario does get injured, it will cause a problem, given that there will be a massive drop-off in quality between the posts.
