Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to build on their impressive midweek Carabao Cup win and get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Aston Villa on Sunday.

Spurs continue to frustrate and delight in equal measure, having beaten reigning league champions Manchester City in the cup in midweek, days after losing to Crystal Palace in the league.

Tottenham will next be up against a Villa side that has been flying high in the Premier League and Champions League this season, though they lost to Palace in the Carabao Cup last time out.

The Spurs News looks at who Ange Postecoglou could pick in his starting XI for the game against Unai Emery’s Villans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham will definitely be without Wilson Odobert and Micky van de Ven due to injury.

Cristian Romero and Timo Werner are doubts, but Postecoglou did say there was a chance they could play.

Son Heung-min appears likely to return against Villa.

“Sonny has trained today, so if he gets through training tomorrow he should be okay,” Postecoglou said on Friday.

Guglielmo Vicario is likely to be named in goal for his third game in the space of a week, while the back line is likely to have two changes.

Archie Gray is likely to be replaced by Pedro Porro at right-back, while Destiny Udogie should be back on the left side of defence.

With Van de Ven injured, Radu Dragusin is expected to start once again at centre-back, and we feel Romero will make it back in time and make the XI.

As for the midfield, we predict Dejan Kulusevski will retain his place from the midweek game, with Yves Bissouma and James Maddison also in the three.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr would be the players to make way.

Finally, we predict that Son will be fine for the game and return to the left, with Brennan Johnson on the other flank and Dominic Solanke leading the line.

This would see Timo Werner make way, though with the £165,000-a-week ace still being monitored, a rest would be the best option nonetheless.
