Radu Dragusin’s agent has claimed ‘it’s a pity’ the Tottenham Hotspur defender didn’t join Napoli during the January transfer window.

Tottenham snapped up Radu Dragusin from Genoa in January and beat the likes of Bayern Munich to his signature.

The 21-year-old is yet to start a game under Ange Postecoglou after snubbing moves to Bayern and Napoli.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently admitted that his club were in for the commanding centre-back before he joined Spurs.

Now, Dragusin’s agent, Florin Menea, has suggested his preference was for the defender to make the switch to Naples.

Dragusin’s agent on Napoli interest

Speaking to TuttoJuve, Menea discussed Napoli’s interest in Dragusin before the defender ultimately joined Tottenham.

“De Laurentiis was ready to close the deal, he was there with the offer, they were almost equal with the others, but it wasn’t a question of money,” he said.

“If it had been, he would have gone to Bayern, who made the bigger offer. Dragusin felt this was the way to go and decided to go to Tottenham.

“Mr De Laurentiis left a good impression on me, he was very kind. Maradona is my idol and Napoli is in my heart.

“I hope to do a deal with Napoli in the future. It wasn’t a bad offer from Napoli, it’s a pity it turned out this way, I’m a bit of a Napoli fan.”

Despite the fact that Dragusin is yet to start for Spurs, his agent has made the headlines on a few occasions already.

Indeed, Menea stated just last month that he sees Dragusin at Real Madrid in ‘three or four’ years.

Spurs supporters have already grown tired of Menea’s constant updates on the interest Dragusin received last month. It’s well known that the Romanian defender turned down multiple clubs to sign for Postecoglou’s Spurs.

Whether or not Menea’s outbursts could lead to future complications for Dragusin at Tottenham remains to be seen.

But for the time being, we think the agent should try to keep out of the headlines and let Dragusin’s football do the talking.
