Guglielmo Vicario could make a swift recovery from a groin injury just after the international break to be ready for Tottenham’s game against Sunderland.
Spurs are in desperate need of a result at the Stadium of Light, with the team now just one point above the bottom three.
🧤 Who would you rather start in goal for Tottenham: Antonin Kinsky or Guglielmo Vicario?
West Ham United are at home to Wolves and look ready to jump above the Lilywhites in the Premier League table with a win.
Tottenham will want to avoid playing Antonin Kinsky against the Black Cats, and that might not have to be the case with Vicario set to make a quick return.
Guglielmo Vicario could return for Sunderland vs Tottenham
Guglielmo Vicario could actually make his return for injury during Sunderland versus Tottenham, according to Alasdair Gold.
The Italian international is undergoing surgery on a groin issue during the international break, but his return is likely to be rather swift.
Speaking about the injury, Gold told Talking Tottenham: “Yeah, I think the plan is to miss as little as possible, and that’s why it’s being done.
“There are some reports in Italy that were potentially going to be today (Monday); perhaps he was going to have the surgery.”

Previously, the Italian goalkeeper has been a quick healer, and that could be the same case again here with his latest injury.
“They said Spurs he would be back in action within the month. We know Vicario from previous experiences is a quick healer. He’s a very fast healer,” added Gold.
“So I wouldn’t bet against him being involved against Sunderland. But if he has to miss one game and it’s Kinsky coming in, then I guess it’s a chance of redemption story for Kinsky, isn’t it? After everything that happened.”
The Lilywhites will be keen not to play Kinsky, given his 17-minute nightmare during the Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Tottenham’s injuries continue to stack up
Tottenham are already missing several players due to injury, with James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Mohammed Kudus all still sidelined.
👀 Could Mohammed Kudus’ return help keep Tottenham in the Premier League?
Kudus will return around 10 days after the international break; meanwhile, Mathys Tel is another player whose fitness is up in the air.
The 21-year-old was forced to withdraw from international duty with France U-21 with a minor issue he suffered against Nottingham Forest.
Rodrigo Bentancur could also return after the international break, but Ben Davies and Wilson Odobert remain sidelined for the rest of the season.
