Micah Richards worry
Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has explained his concern for Tottenham star Micky van de Ven. The summer signing has impressed since joining the club, however injury issues have started to pile up.
Richards questioned whether the tactic of using a high line has had a major impact on his fitness. Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, he said: “It was sad to see Van de Ven go off the pitch, though. I mean when we talk about tactics and how they want to play, we give Ange Postecoglou so much credit haven’t we?
“And they play so high and it was Danny Murphy who was doing Match of the Day two yesterday [Sunday] and he did a really good piece on how brave the centre-backs were. And what was good is that they push really high up, they sort of go man-for-man at the back against [Leon] Bailey and [Ollie] Watkins.
“But what that leads to is a race constantly. So Villa try to get the ball quickly forward, and then Van de Ven’s constantly having to sprint back. He’s got big numbers, one of the fastest players in the Premier League. But then now he’s going to be out if he’s tweaked his hamstring again. So they play great football, front-footed football, entertaining stuff that we all want to see, but for the centre-halves, it is hard work.”

New Premier League financial rules
Tottenham and the rest of the Premier League clubs look set to undergo huge changes to how they operate their finances. The current rules in place are for the Profit and Sustainability method [PSR], however a huge change appears to be around the corner.
According to Kaveh Solhekol, a new set of regulations are being drafted that align closer to that of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play system. That places an emphasis on squad cost control, where clubs can only spend a certain ratio of their revenue on transfers and wages.

John McGinn red card reaction
There was plenty of confusion over John McGinn’s reaction to receiving a straight red card against Tottenham, with the Aston Villa midfielder staying on the field awaiting a possible VAR call. The Scotland international kicked through Destiny Udogie, which led to the sending off.
Speaking on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, Alasdair Gold discussed the reaction, saying: “And there was this kind of ridiculous moment, it was right in front, kind of, the press box you can see it down there, he was heading off the pitch. And then I think he remembered the existence of VAR, John McGinn, and he stood, kind of, just on the pitch near the tunnel, just looking back as if to say, ‘are they going to overturn it?’
“Chris Kavanagh, the referee, just looked at him and just went, ‘get off’. He just waved at him and pointed like just get off. Like you think that’s ever gonna get overturned, and he just got to trudged off.”
