Tottenham Hotspur’s academy side is replicating the fine form of the first-team – but are even going one better.
Ange Postecoglou is doing wonders with Tottenham Hotspur at the moment. The Aussie currently sits top of the table with his side, currently unbeaten in the Premier League.
He has certainly got Spurs playing – and is bringing out the best of James Maddison, Son Heung-min and many more.
But it’s about time some credit was given to the Spurs’ academy setup. Their blistering start to the season even surpasses the first-team squad.
Spurs Academy are flying
Unlike Postecoglou’s side, the Spurs Academy are not just unbeaten in the league – they are absolutely flawless in their first seven games, accumulating the maximum 21 points in the Premier League Two.
They’ve also done it in style, scoring a monumental 25 goals in the process. There is a long way to go yet, but it’s been an impeccable start from the young lads.
They also showed their class in the EFL Cup, winning their first fixture 5-0 against Colchester. However, they did succumb to their first defeat of the season last night, with a 3-1 loss to Peterborough – but this is nothing to be ashamed of.
The future is in safe hands
Tottenham are just in an absolutely unbelievable place at the moment.
The first team is doing the business already, but to know the youth of North London are also thriving gives reassurance that the future is in safe hands.
There are some seriously talented players in the youth setup such as Jamie Donley, Yago Santiago, Jude Soonsup-Bell and so many more.
The real question is – will we see them integrated into the first team regime in the coming seasons? Who knows. Exciting times ahead.
