Tottenham Hotspur have a number of exciting young talents rising through the ranks and one prospect has decided to stay put.
Ange Postecoglou has overseen the development of a number of youngsters in just a year at Tottenham Hotspur.
Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr have all shown encouraging progress under Postecoglou.
Spurs now have two more top talents to add into the mix having landed Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.
Ashley Phillips and Luka Vuskovic were secured last year and Tottenham also have exciting players coming through the academy.
Mikey Moore, Alfie Dorrington, Jamie Donley and Tyrese Hall all have considerable hype around them and they will hopefully kick on under Postecoglou moving forward.
Frankie Day staying at Tottenham Hotspur
At an even younger level, Tottenham appear to have avoided losing a very promising teenager.
The Secret Scout reported in June that England Under-15 striker Frankie Day would be leaving the club having deregistered from the academy setup.
Tottenham appear to have changed Day’s mind though with The Secret Scout adding that ‘further talks’ took place and Day is staying put.
Not only is Day continuing with Tottenham after all, but he has even spent time training with the first team at Hotspur Way over the last week.
Day is seemingly making waves at Tottenham but it’s important not to get too excited this early into his career.
Day still has so much development to come, which will feature dealing with both highs and lows at Tottenham and possibly even out on loan.
Fans will remember excitement surrounding Reo Griffiths, who couldn’t stop scoring goals in the Tottenham youth ranks.
Griffiths quit Tottenham for Lyon in 2018 but failed to make the grade and has most recently featured for Doncaster Rovers, Yeovil Town, Wealdstone and Portland Timbers 2 with limited success.
Now 24, Griffiths seemingly won’t hit the heights expected of him as a teenager.
Troy Parrott was thought to be the next big thing in the Tottenham ranks but has now been sold to AZ Alkmaar having struggled to break through in North London.
Dane Scarlett had similar hype but has only made six Premier League appearances and hasn’t exactly been prolific on loan at Portsmouth and Ipswich Town.
That isn’t to write Scarlett off, but it just goes to show that young players go through ups and downs in their development and rarely is progress linear.
Tottenham will have high hopes for Day but will also be at pains to calm down hype despite his involvement around first-team training.
