Tottenham Hotspur players suffered real mixed fortunes on Wednesday night as international tournaments enter their final days.

Euro 2024 and Copa America have now entered their final stages and Tottenham Hotspur players have been in action this week.

Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso are now just one step away from bringing more glory to Argentina.

Their win over Canada will see Argentina take on Colombia in the Copa America final with another trophy now in sight.

Colombia’s progression came at the expense of Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur and his Uruguay side.

Bentancur was substituted through injury as Uruguay lost 1-0 to Colombia before ugly scenes marred the end of the game.

Micky van de Ven sends message after Euro 2024 exit

Defender Micky van de Ven suffered a similar fate as England dumped his Netherlands side out of Euro 2024.

The Three Lions snatched a late winner to secure a 2-1 victory and a spot in the Euro 2024 final against Spain.

Van de Ven was stuck on the bench as the Netherlands suffered heartbreak in Dortmund, with the Tottenham star serving as an unused substitute.

Despite impressing as a substitute, Van de Ven failed to start a single game at Euro 2024.

Tottenham fans may be rather selfishly pleased about that, limiting the workload Van de Ven has taken on ahead of the new Premier League season.

Van de Ven’s time will come for the Netherlands and he may well be a key first-choice player for them by the time the next World Cup rolls around.

The Spurs ace has now taken to social media, posting an emotional message on Instagram after suffering elimination on Wednesday.

“An unforgettable trip with a fantastic group. It was an honour to represent our country in this tournament. Thanks to all the fans, amazing how you supported us everywhere!” said Van de Ven.

Club football will be back on Van de Ven’s mind soon enough and a handful of Tottenham teammates responded with supportive messages.

“Very proud of you get some rest and see you very soon love ya,” said Tottenham captain Son Heung-min.

“Proud of u son. Don’t have too many beers on holiday,” joked James Maddison, whilst Brennan Johnson simply responded with an orange heart emoji.

Van de Ven is clearly loved at Tottenham and fans will be keen to show their love for him upon seeing him in action for Spurs again – but for now, the defender deserves a rest and some time to recover from a gutting exit.
